It can be convenient to have a bike cargo trailer that converts into a trailer that is easily pushed around by hand. This can be useful for wheeling your gear down to the beach while leaving your bike parked. Or pushing your trailer through the grocery store. It is a useful mode if you have to push your trailer through an apartment building or to the office.
The Carry Freedom Large Y-Frame Trailer has been set up by the good folks at Carry Freedom as a walking trailer. This has been a somewhat custom modification that they’ve offered. The perfect bike cargo trailer would be light and strong. It would have lights and a kickstand incorporated into it. You would barely notice its affect on your bike as you pulled it. It would work on road and off and have smooth suspending properties to keep your load from getting jostled. It would work great for both large and small loads. It would go on and off your bike with quick/secure ease. It would collapse down neatly out of the way and transform into a carrying case for your bike when you were traveling like the CELLO bike case.

Bike Trailers are a great way to combine bicycling with other activities, golf for example. Here are a few trailers that can be used with a little modification to transport golf clubs.
The simplest solution is the PaddleBoy Flyer Trailer. This trailer is designed for use with kayaks and canoes. Because the trailer is adjustable in length, it could be set to the right length to support a golf club bag. In its shortest position, the trailers main support strut positions the support brackets at 43″ apart, just the right length for a golf club bag. An extra bit of padding could be used on the front v-shaped support for cushioning.

One of my favorite things about BOB Trailers is the proclivity of their use as the base for the odd if not bizarre modification.
Solar Power: Use your BOB to support a large solar array and run electical appliances wherever you go. Or use it to power the electric hub on your bike.

The basic BOB Yak Trailers set the stage for imitators, as discussed in the last post, as well as trailers that owe their lineage to the BOB but have gone on in new directions. These inspired cargo haulers have evolved by adding suspension, different cargo configurations, different size wheels, multi-functionality and other features.
BOB’s Ibex trailer was introduced circa 2002. It offers suspension to improve the ride off road and on.
